Robert grew up on his family farm south of Tamworth in New South Wales.  He completed his high school studies at The Scots College, Sydney and completed a sheep and wool technology course at the Tamworth TAFE college.  Robert is a Justice of the Peace, confirmed in 1989 and holds a commercial pilot licence.

Robert worked on the family farm with his parents, brother and two sisters until mid 1976 after which he commenced his own farming business on a property near Coonamble in western New South Wales.  His farming experience covers wool, beef, fat lamb and grain production including irrigated cropping.

Robert’s other activities include wool classing, manager of CIC Insurance in Dubbo, New South Wales where he held a securities dealers licence and acted as Check Captain of regular public air craft transport operations in Dubbo.
